A reflection of the intense study of the effects of electromagnetic fields on living tissues that has taken place during the last decades, Advanced Electroporation Techniques in Biology and Medicine summarizes most recent experimental findings and theories related to permeabilization of biomembranes by pulsed electric fields. Edited by experts and including contributions from pioneers in the field, the book focuses on biophysical mechanisms of elelctroporation and applications of this phenomenon in biomedical research and medicine.

COBISS.SI-ID: 7764052A prototype device for skin electroporation allows the application of voltage pulses of amplitudes up to 280 V. The device is equipped with prototype applicators containing 19 electrodes that can be activated independently of each other. They are controlled by a software through a graphical user interface, through which one can choose preset pulse protocols, or create their own. By measuring the moisture lost through the skin (using TEWL method: transepidermal water loss) after treatments with the prototype, we showed increased permeability of the skin.
