The subject of this patent application are PVD hard coatings with variable color. The patented coating is composed of three layer: a thick bottom hard layer, than intermediate layer with a high reflectivity in the visible range of the spectrum and a top semitransparent layer which determines the color of the whole coating. The top layer material is semitransparent for visible light and is made of nitrides, carbides, carbonitrides, oxides or borides of transition metals

Hydrogen impermeable coating

In the previous year we optimized the TiAlN coating, for which we previously established to reduce the permeability for four orders of magnitude. For this achievement we were awarded as a »success story« by the granting authority in the field of micro- and nanotechnologies. The results of these investigations will be published in Surf. Coat. Technol (accepted paper).
