We investigated possible applications of the liquefied products for preparation of surface wood finishes. These can be prepared by a conventional way by the reaction of liquefied biomass with curing agents or by a self-crosslinking mechanism. Firstly, an overview of liquefaction processes is given and application possibilities of liquefied ligno-cellulosics are presented. In the second part, selected results of our extensive research of liquefaction reactions, curing processes, and of various properties of wood coatings made from liquefied lignocellulosics are shown.

Franc Budija in 2010 very successfully defended his PhD thesis that was prepared under supervision of the L4-2144 project leader, Prof. Dr. Marko Petrič. The title of Franc Budija’s dissertation is: »Preparation and characterisation of crosslinked coatings from liquefied poplar wood «.
