Induction cookers use an intermediate frequency magnetic field to heat the cooking vessel. The magnetic flux density produced by an induction cooker during operation was measured according to the standards, and the measured values were below the limits set there. Measurements were used to validate a numerical model of a cooker consisting of three vertically displaced coaxial current loops at 35 kHz. The results show that the magnetic fields produced by induction cookers do not cause the basic restriction for the internal electric field to be exceeded in children or foetuses, even when the field is increased by a factor of 5, which can happen when the cookware is inappropriate and/or miss-aligned. The induced current density, however, is relatively close to its basic restriction and could potentially exceed it even for induction cookers in compliance with the currently valid standard (EN 62233).

A three dimensional voxel-based model of a 30-week pregnant woman was built based on a series of CT images. The model was then used in FDTD simulations to investigate RF energy deposited in different body and field orientations. Additionally, the additivity of two planewave fields of different frequencies was investigated. Results show that for all field orientations, the SAR levels inside the uterus and fetus are significantly lower than in the mother. Typically, the localized SAR values in the fetus and placenta are more than an order of magnitude smaller than the values in the mother.

To obtain a comprehensive snapshot of the exposure in the apartment above the transformer substation we performed detailed spot and 24-hour measurements of magnetic flux densities. Spot measurements present the spatial distribution of the magnetic flux density, whereas 24-hour measurements present time variation of the magnetic flux densities. Combining both results it allowed us estimating the real worst case exposure. Based on the results of the numerical modeling we proposed the optimum and cost effective reconstruction plan to minimize the exposure of the inhabitants in the apartment.

Femtocel is a micro base station. It is intended to be used similar to the wireless routers inside the building to increase the coverage with the mobile phone signal inside the buildings. By numerical modeling we calculated the exposure of the adult and the children in the vicinity of the femtocell.
