The new national coordinate system is the realization of a European reference system in Slovenia. It supports the of use of new technologies in surveying and spatial information systems, geology, geophysics and seismology etc., the use of satellite navigation techniques, the development of location-based services, the activities of the police, army, security and rescue services and the improvement of geolocation determination quality. Due to the increased availability of satellite navigation systems it is important for the space-related infrastructure and the society in general.

The new geomagnetic model is useful for the logistics applications where the declination precision is of big importance since in this case for the orientation the topographic maps are used. Maps of isogonic lines (lines of equal declination ) were made using the new model. These maps are useful for navigation purposes, the value of declination between isogonic lines can be calculated easily by polynomial interpolation. The new model with maps of isogonic lines is also important in topographical, aeronautical and nautical cartography.
