Prof. Tamara Lah is the coordinator of the project GLIOMA, which is 1.3 Mio Euro three years project within European Program of crossborder cooperation Slovenia Italy 20072013. Besides NIB, collaborators are Medical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, University Medical Centre Ljubljana (Department of Neurosurgery). University Hospital in Udine, Sincrotrone Trieste and Health and Social company from Chioggia are project partners from Italy. The main goal of the project in research collaboration on the role of glioma stem cells and to . establish joined tissue and cell bank in the region. Results of these activities will contribute to new forms of important diagnostic and potential therapeutic tools. By integrating the newest strategies on planning a specific treatment for each patient we are approaching the desired concept of healthcare treatment in oncology.

Organisation of 7 consecutive international Conferences on Experimental and Translational Oncology – CETO – in years from 2000 – 2013 and coJavni editor of the respective Proceedings: Proceeding of the 7th Conference on Experimental and Translational Oncology, The CETO Conference was in 2013 organised already for the 7th time, with increased international participation of over 150 scientists from EU and USA. The important impact of these conferences is on the possible translation of basic research to applied clinical studies. By this it enhances the transition from laboratory research and the patients' needs, what reflects its applied aspect. The Conferences also contribute to the networking and increase the mobility among Slovenian groups as well as with the international research teams. This time the Conference was joined wit the organistion of regular anual Conference EORTC – European Organization of Research and Treatment of Cancer, section for Pathobiology. Annual meeting of this group, comprising invited members only, took place in 2013 in organization of Prod.Janko Kos and i Tamara Lah Turnšek, who are members since 1998. Prof. Lah Turnšek also had a lecture besides being an coorganizer entitled: Tumour stem cell markers as prognostic indicators in cancer : 8th EORTC PathoBiology group annual meeting, Portorož, April, 2013. International Summer School (ISS) on the theme of modern approaches in research and treatment of cancer was the 6th in a row of international ISSPiran. This one was carried under the leadership of Tamara Lahr Turnšek at the Marine Biology Station of the National Institute of Biology in collaboration with the Society for Tissue Engineering of Slovenia. It was organized as a postgraduate school for the students of Biomedicine at Medical Faculty of UL (5 ETC), but was also intended to attract students of biosciences and similar fields of natural sciences as well as for all others willing to gain the knowledge and experiences in oncology. The subjects included tumour biology, tumour biomarkers and targets, cancer and stem cells and translational research in he filed of cancer in the mornings as lectures and as hands on practicals in the experimental oncology in the afternoon. On the last day the participants took written exams and presented their related projects. We prepared the book of abstract from the abstracts that was printed and published by NIB.
