F.30 Professional assessment of the situation
COBISS.SI-ID: 24628775Two cluster workshops were foreseen in the framework of THINS (Thermal Hydraulics of Innovative Nuclear Systems) project work package 6 (Education and training). The first cluster workshop was organized in February 2012 at Jožef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana. Clusters are introduced in the project management structure to enhance the interaction between the work packages in which similar or related experimental or numerical approaches may be employed. Forty THINS related presentations classified in three clusters: - 1. CFD model and validation; - 2. System code and validation; - 3. Experimental techniques and data bases, were presented in three days' workshop attended by 63 participants. Around 20 participants were students and 10 of them presented their work within THINS project.
B.01 Organiser of a scientific meeting
COBISS.SI-ID: 25787175Project of 7th framework program of EU THINS (Thermal Hydraulics of Innovative Nuclear Systems) has successfully ended in the beginning of 2015. Conference paper prepared by the authors of various EU institutions summarizes the research performed within the work package "Single phase turbulence". We used Direct Numerical Simulation to predict heat transfer in the liquid metal and structures around. Similar research in more complex geometries will be performed within the EU Horizon2020 project SESAME.
D.06 Final report on a foreign/international project
COBISS.SI-ID: 26747175ENEN association (European Nuclear Education Network) connects all European universities and institutions involved in nuclear engineering education and awards "Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering" title to the students that obtained at least 20 ECTS at institutions other than their home university. I. Tiselj is a member of Committee for evaluation of the requests.
D.03 Membership in foreign/international boards/committees
Numerical method, that has not been used in our research group before, a student of physics prepared an interesting diploma thesis. Using the case of natural convection he analyzed advantages (efficient parallelization on massive parallel computers) and drawbacks (limitations due to the quasy-compressibility) of the Lattice Boltzmann Method.
