At IMT Ljubljana, four samples of model alloy Al-4,5%Cu have been synthesized in the framework of the present project. The samples have a controlled microstructure obtained at different cooling rates; i.e. in the temperature interval from 600 to 200°C are 0,1°C/min, 12°C/min. and 1220°C/min. The next step of the project is the preparation of metallographic samples and microstructural investigations under light and scanning electron microscope with the aim of determination of segregation at macro and micro level depending on cooling rate of synthesized model alloy. The results will be used for comparison with the experiments.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 898730The lecture is focused on news in numerical simulation of solidification on multiple levels, based on meshless methods. The lecture and stay of Prof. Šarler in Jena stimulated common reserach on simulation of dendritic growth based on the point automata method. The first common journal paper will appear in 2012.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1956603The development of local meshless collocation method for problems of natural convection and double diffusion with melting and solidification is described in the dissertation. An entirely local efficient pressure correction is described. The thesis was supported by the stipend of World Federation of Scientists.
