The research in this PhD thesis is focused on the influence of luminal and humoral factors on the activity of secretory transporters in intestinal epithelia. The influence of paracrine hormones and nutritive substances like sugars, proteins, amino acids, short and long chain fats in GIT was studied, as well as the influence of other factors, like the change of osmolarity or acidity of the GIT content. With the results of this doctoral thesis the physiological significance of the regulation of the intestinal transporters as well as the interactions of these transporters among themselves and with other factors were elucidated.
