The work is the result of an attempt to transfer theory into practice. The main goal was to overcome the existing patterns of educational work with both secondary school students (15 - 19 years old) and university students (19-24 years old). The present study aimed to determine the extent to which we manage to equip future teachers with specific competencies for their continued work in (geographical) education. It provides evidence that even the most difficult tasks are not impossible, but adequate preparation, conception, quality of performance, a positive attitude and a desire for progress are obligatory in order to succeed

The paper discusses geographical imagination of landscapes in text on Slovenian Istria. Geographical imagination refers to perceiving space through pictures, text, and discourses. In this paper we elaborated conceptual starting points for study of geographical imagination and representations of cultural landscapes.
