The final results of the Slovenian project "Intelligent power system platform for supervision and control of distributed generation and customer demands - SUPERMEN" are presented in the paper. The project deals with the strategy of converting the currently passive distribution networks to active networks. This conversion introduces many challenges such as DG network integration, power quality, concepts and strategies for network planning, control and supervision as well as information and communication technologies (ICT). The main goal of the SUPERMEN project was to implement a demonstration network.

COBISS.SI-ID: 35490565The paper deals with a vision on how to implement SmartGrids concept in Slovenia. Key drivers that propel inevitable changes related to network operation, planning and control as well changes which will affect also the consumers are summarized. The SmartGrids concept is complex and as such wraps many categories; technological, economic, social and regulatory. The paper is oriented towards explanation why this categories are important and how they should be addressed. The final goal is a feasible national SmartGrids implementation plan.

COBISS.SI-ID: 35489797New concepts of active electricity networks represent a (r)evolution in the production and efficient use of electricity. On the one hand, the developed system-oriented solutions will allow high penetration of distributed energy resources and, on the other, consumer-oriented solutions an efficient use of energy by end-users. In the paper, main drivers for changing the existing power networks are discussed. Further, the impact of Distributed Energy Resources on network operation, the concept and implementation of active networks from the Slovenian perspective are presented.
