Small glaciers in the Alps and elsewhere are important indicators of short-term local, and even global, climatic changes. Monitoring them usually involves measurements of the terminus retreat, the reduction of area and volume, and the velocity of glacier movements. Long-term glacier measurements show not only glacier changes over time but also how geodetic measuring techniques have evolved from classical to remote sensing technologies. While the new technologies enable more accurate measurements, they cannot cover the past glacier changes. This raises the important question of how to bring the old images into a common reference frame of new measurements. The aim is to understand how these techniques and data might be integrated to support both historical and contemporary understanding of glacier changes. The article has been published in the top international geodetic practice magasine "GIM international" on the invitation from the editors.

D.10 Educational activities
In the lecture the history of photogrammetric work at the Geodetic institute of Slovenia since 1953 on was presented. The photogrammetry enables 3D-data extraction from different kinds of images. The combination of laser scanning and photogrammetric methods enables the usage of unconventonal images in photogrammetric purposes. I have presented some classical photogrammetrical applications: topographic maps, cultural heritage and natural hazards. Additionaly two examples of aerial laser scanning usage was used: detailed 3D city models and snow depth studies. On the end aslo some uncnventional photogrammetric examples were presented: Triglav glacier 3D boundary extraction to usage of archival images for monitoring of spatial changes through time.

COBISS.SI-ID: 36711173In November 2012 Slovenia was affected by extensive flooding. Through internet we made a call for collaborative gathering of images of flooded areas. With the help of interactive orientation the images, which could be used for 3D-borders of flooded areas were chosen and data acquired from them. The boundaries of floods on next rivers were acquired: Soča in Tolmin and Most na Soči, Toplica and Klančnica in Šoštanj, Mislinja from Slovenj Gradec to Dravograd, Drava from Ptuj to HE Formin. The results are published on http://www.gis.si/poplave-2012#rezultati and in different papers.
