P4-0369 — Final report
1.
Method for influenza virus purification

Novel methods and approaches for the purification of the influenza virus from cell cultures using monolithic chromatography columns are described.

F.32 International patent

2.
Development of analytical monolithic columns for the separation of plasmid DNA and proteins

A member of the research programme, Aleš Štrancar, was a supervisor of PhD laureate, Boštjan Gabor, who successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in 2014. The topic of the thesis was about the development and testing of monolithic analytical column for biological macromolecules separation.

D.09 Tutoring for postgraduate students

3.
Monolith Summer School and Symposium

The members of the research programme organised two successful international conferences and summer schools entitled "Monolith Summer School and Symposum, MSS 2016 and MSS 2014". The topic of bienal event is related to monolith technology for biochromatography, bioconversion and solid phase synthesis, which takes place in Portorož every two years in May and June.

B.01 Organiser of a scientific meeting

4.
Biochromatography: small molecules small problems, large molecules large problems

The lecture systematically presented chromatography of biopharmaceuticals. We compared the challenges and limitations of the chromatography of small and large biological molecules (proteins, viruses, DNA). The lecture is part of a wider programme, where the importance and usefulness of biochromatography is advertised.

B.04 Guest lecture

5.
Separation of full and empty adeno associated virus (AAV8) capsids on an anion exchange monolithic chromatographic column

Different completely new products were developed within the programme, we are especially proud of two analytical columns for monitoring and quantification of adenoviruses and adeno associated viruses (AAV).
