The applicability of macroporous polymeric material in biopharmaceutical applications was presented with an emphasis on presenting the ways how to tailor the structural and chemical properties needed to achieve the best efficiency in separating biomacromolecules.

Monolithic columns for the downstream processing and in-process control of large biomolecules

A new generation of monolithic columns for downstream processing of biological molecules was presented. Besides the columns used for the purification, a Process Analytical Technology (PAT) concept was presented. Monolithic analytical columns used for fast in-process and final control of varios biomolecules was discussed.

Mathematical model to describe the change of monolith permeability as a function of monolith compression modulus was derived and presented.

An upgrade and qualification of a system for the production of purified water

The qualification of the system for the production of purified water is presented. The results demonstrate that the system water has the appropriate physico-chemical and microbiological properties, which are in accordance with the pharmacopeia requests.
