Surfaces energies of monoliths by inverse liquid chromatography and contact angles

Surfaces of butyl and phenyl monolithic chromatographic columns with different ligands densities were compared with chemically identical nonporoous flat sheetst. We determined the retention times of highly dilute molecular probes in monoliths and accessed contact angles of pure molecular probes of sheets. We calculated surface energies for both systems. We applied theories of Young, Dupré, and van Oss and compared the results of both types of experiments with respect to Lifshitz–van der Waals and Lewis acid and Lewis base contributions and find agreement but an additive constant.

Design of monoliths through their mechanical properties

In this work, we investigated the effect of porosity, pore size and chemical modification on methacrylate monolith compression modulus. Data of monolith compression modulus in combination with developed mathematical model can be used for the prediction of monolith permeability during its implementation but also to accelerate the design of novel chromatographic monoliths with desired hydrodynamic properties for particular application.

Purification of Vero cell derived live replication deficient influenza A and B virus by ion exchange monolith chromatography

We explored the possibilities for purification of various ΔNS1 live, replication deficient influenza viruses on ion exchange methacrylate monoliths. Purification of ΔNS1 viruses on CIM QA was scaled up and reproducibility was confirmed.

Histamine monolith versatility to purify supercoiled plasmid deoxyribonucleic acid from Escherichia coli lysate

The study explores the physicochemical properties of histamine ligand bound to a chromatographic monolith, in a supercoiled plasmid DNA purification process from an Escherichia coli clarified lysate, where the emphasis is given to the elution strategy that allows higher selectivity and efficient removal of other impurities besides the open circular isoform. Histamine was proven to be a useful and versatile ligand that allows the desirable supercoiled plasmid purification with high productivity.

Identification of proteins interacting with ammodytoxins in Vipera ammodytes ammodytes venom by immuno-affinity chromatography

We showed in the study that the affinity chromatography on monolithic columns combined with mass spectrometry identification was a successful approach for screening of protein interactions. It resulted in the detection of the interaction of ammodytoxins with Kunitz-type inhibitor in Vipera ammodytes ammodytes venom for the first time.
