An important part of the master thesis was determination of specific ionization from charged particles in diamond detectors. The gamma rays convert either to Compton electrons or electrons from Photoelectric effect which then lose their energy by e-h pair generation. Although the specific ionization in diamond detectors is one of the key material properties several groups have reported larger value than found in the literature (36 e-h/um for m.i.p.). Results presented in the thesis point to few percent larger value for electrons from 90Sr source (39 e-h/um). The corrections will be taken into account in simulations.
