The lecture focused on various aspects of social, cultural and medical construction of body. Special attention was paid to historical analysis of the process of institutionalisation of medicine, which in a great deal influenced (also) contemporary Western understanding and treatment of body and health/disease. In this context, the lecture also addresses the problem of social hierarchies and population control.

COBISS.SI-ID: 31938909Reviewer, A. Švab, stresses that book represents an important contribution of sexual behaviour and attitudes toward sexuality in the population of secondary-school students. The quality of the book lies in careful analysis and reflection of the analysed topic. Based on the empirical data, the authors confirm the well-known idea that systemic programme of school-based education is needed.

COBISS.SI-ID: 268686336Kuhar in the review of the monography "First and third year secondary students' attitudes toward sexuality" states that the study in the context of the school field does not bring significant new findings since it only confirms the results of previous research. Nevertheless, it brings important insights related to the nonsystematic treatment of sexuality in the Slovenian school system. Clearly stated wish and need of the study participants for introducing systematic school-based sexual education into the school system shows that actions such as "Proud of my gender" are insufficient and actually harmful, because they are based only on declarative statements whereas students stress that they mostly need practical and realistic advice regarding sexuality and sexual life.
