The very ethnic question has been treated through two basic levels. On theoretical-methodological level the author confronts the generally present dilemmas in contemporary foreign scientific literature and domestic social studies concerning the understanding alone and the treatment of notions such as ethnic nation, ethnic/people/national minority and focuses on the act and the process of ethnic national building/formation. She presents the situation of the contemporary Slovene national minorities in the whole and within them she contextualises the Sloven national minority in Croatia as the youngest one. Then she treats individual nationonal minority forming factors that preserve it. She tries to explain the social paradox of decades long lasting permanent and relatively abrupt decrease of the number of the selfdeterminated Slovenes as individualas, having been registreted by all people censuses in the former half of century, on the one hand, and the obvious stable national minority vitality of the Slovenes in Croatia nowadays, on the other hand. Among the influential factors for this situation she detects devotion of the Slovenes individuals in Croatia to the Sloveniahood emotion and awareness as the most important and decisive reason. The Slovenes in Croatia with the support of the institutions of the Slovene state and in the social context of the relatively comfortable Croation national majority's environment have fully realised their national awareness and have fortified it all over the regions of the Republic of Croatia through twelve new Slovene cultural associations, having been founded in last fifteen years and joined to the four ones already established in the 20 th century.
