This report shows the results of Raman measurements of protective coatings on unprotected and protected electronic boards. The measurements showed that the protective coating is quite thin (some hundrids nm) and that the coating formulation comprise quite little dry matter. From these reasons, it was not possible to detect the protective coating at all positions with Raman spectroscopy. Optical images, however, showed that the protective coating was present, which was confirmed also by contact angle measurements. Anyhow, it was not possible to confirm with a great certainty that all elements of the electronic boards were covered by the protective coating.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5812762According to standards two steel plates were exposed to atmospheric environment in shelters of company Telekom Slovenia for 1 year. The first plate was exposed close to Ljubljana, the second plate near Koper. Our intention was to determine degree of corrosion in both kinds of environments according to standard environment clasification. It was found that both environments belong to C2 clasification, i.e. environment with low degree of corrosivity.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5694234Unprotected and protected electronic boards, which were exposed in salt and humid chamber 72 h, were analysed by Raman spectroscopy. It should be mentioned that boards still functioned after the exposure. Most of the elements on boards, which were exposed in humid chamber, was the protective coating still present. However, there could be noted cracks and blistering at some parts. In the case when the boards were exposed in salt chamber, it is not possible to confirm the presence of the protective coating on all elements. Those, on which the coating is still present, could be noted cracks.
