Doc. dr. Mateja Gosar is editor in chief and dr. Mihael Brenčič is EDITORIAL BOARD member of the of scientific periodical journal Geologija. Geologija is a central Slovenian scentific journal with a 50 year history and tradition. It has an international advisory board. In Geologija publish Slovenian and foreign authors. Contributions cover the fields of geological mapping, stratigraphy, paleontology, mineralogy, mineral deposits, hydrogeology, environment protection, geochemistry, geohazards, seismology, geoinformatics and related activities. In 2015 was Geologija included in Scpopus database, which is an important success.

Geologia Croatica is a scientific journal of the Croatian Geological Survey and the Croatian Geological Society, dealing with all aspects of Earth sciences, with emphasis on the Dinarides, the Adriatic/Mediterranean region, Pannonian Basin and/or karst issues. It is published three times per year in English and is highly respected in the international scientific community.

The latest scientific achievements on quantity and quality status of geothermal aquifers and their management methods are directly applicable and transferred into practice in our provision of professional support to the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning for the process of granting concessions for thermal water use. A great breakthrough was achieved in this field in 2015 as 30 formal decisions were made regarding the use of thermal and mineral water for spa, heating and bottling industry. This will enable better control over water use and state of the aquifers. This concession granting process caused many dispute among water users and public debates due to payment fees as well as two official questions of the Members of the Parliament, in March and November 2015, for answers of which we provided the necessary professional and scientific support.
F.23 Development of new system-wide, normative and programme solutions, and methods
COBISS.SI-ID: 2480981The main purpose of this presentation was to present geochemical investigations in former Yugoslavia. Intensively, in the last decade Geological Survey of Slovenia (GeoZS) spread the geochemical researches to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Croatia, Kosovo and Serbia through many bilateral projects and European projects. The main mines, smelters and ironworks were the main target of investigation. According to fact that Slovenia is very rich with mines, and consequently with numerous ironworks and smelters, the GeoZS has a long tradition in this kind of researches. Successful cooperation between GeoZS and institutions from other countries resulted by numerous publications, especially with Macedonia. For determination of contamination, various sampling materials such as soil, alluvial sediments, river sediments, attic dust, lichen and moss were collected. In data processing various techniques of statistical approach have been used, but for their interpolation (visualization) also for the preparation of predictive maps of contamination we used universal kriging method and artificial neural network (ANN).
B.04 Guest lecture
COBISS.SI-ID: 2456917N. Rman in December 2015 received young researchers award of SKIAH named after France Drobne for her professional achievements in the field of hydrogeology. At that occasion she gave invited lecture entitled: Detection of warm water. In the academic years 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 in the autumn semester conducted exercises and colloquia for students of third year of undergraduate studies in geology. Members of the group of students also carry out thematic lectures in the field of geothermal (COBISS ID 2241621) and water supply systems (COBISS ID 2157141).
