We have developed and patented an advanced email protocol for interoperable, cross-border certified electronic mail based on existing e-mail infrastructure. The new system allows any e-mail user to send or receive certified e-mail without first applying for a secure mailbox and changing their e-mail address. Post of Slovenia (Pošta Slovenije) is the service provider based on the patented protocol and is in the process of certification according to EU Directive 910/2014.

COBISS.SI-ID: 17615382The members of the research program have organized several leading and top-level international scientific and professional conferences and workshops. In the year 2010, we have organized ECOOP 2010 – “The 24th European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming”. It is one of the leading conferences in the field of object technology and related software development technologies. In 2015, we organized KMO 2015 – “The 10th International Conference on Knowledge Management in Organizations”. In conjunction LTEC 2015 – “The 4th International Workshop on Learning Technology for Education in Cloud” was held. KMO 2015 addresses the area of knowledge management and LTEC 2015 the use of technology in education. The conference proceedings of both KMO 2015 and LTEC 2015 were published by Springer. In 2009 and 2015, we have organized EJC – “The International Conference on Information Modeling and Knowledge Bases”. The conference addresses the field of data modelling and knowledge bases. Extended conference papers were published by IOS Press in form of a book. In 2007, we also organized CBMS 2007 – “The 20th IEEE International Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems”. The conference addresses the field of medical informatics. The proceedings were published by IEEE Press. In 2015, in cooperation with IFAC we organized CESCIT 2015 – “The 2nd Conference on Embedded Systems, Computational Intelligence and Telematics in Control”. The conference addresses topics from the field of embedded systems, computational intelligence and telematics in control. In 2011, we were the organizers of the EAEEIE 2011 – “The 22nd EAEEIE Annual Conference”. The conference brings together experts from the field of e-learning from across Europe. The conference addresses scientific achievements in the field of e-learning. The proceedings were published by IEEE Press. We were in the role of organizers (SQAMIA 2015) and in the steering committees of the SQAMIA workshop (the Workshop on Software Quality Analysis, Monitoring, Improvement, and Applications). The purpose of the series of workshops is to offer a platform for the presentation and dissemination of knowledge in the field of software quality. In 2017, a member of our research programme is co-chair of the KM Conference 2017, which addresses the field of knowledge management, learning and information technology. All contributions will be published in the journal Online Journal of Applied Knowledge Management.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1536428995For many years, we are the organizers and initiators of the series of conferences OTS - Advanced information technologies and services. Since 1996 it is one of the leading independent IT conferences in Slovenia, which connects and enables the exchange of knowledge on advances in IT between business professionals from industry and researchers. It also contributes to the development and enrichment of the Slovenian professional IT terminology. The conference topics are constantly adapting to current trends in IS development and IT technology. The uptake and renown of the conference is reflected in the number of participants, as their number in recent years varies around 200. The participants are IT experts, students and other stakeholders.

COBISS.SI-ID: 87182081According to the strategy approved by the European Parliament, the eCall service allows vehicles equipped with a system for triggering emergency calls in case of an accident, automatic dialing of the emergency line "112". eCall, a pan-European initiative will work throughout the European Union, when inclusion of eCall support systems will be mandatory in new vehicles. It will be available to all drivers regardless of their country of origin or destination country. The main results of the project are: forwarding a call from the mobile network; automatic language detection of the caller; and ensuring privacy during data transmission. In scope of the project eCall4All - Instant assistance to drivers in case of emergency anywhere in the EU, members of the research program with partners (Alpineon, d.o.o., IPKOM, d.o.o., Iskratel, d.o.o., Telekom Slovenije. d.d., AMZS, d.d.) achieved also the results, which will contribute to the instant, economical and secure introduction of the service in Slovenia: (1) expansion of call centers of Administration for civil protection and rescue of Slovenia (URSZR) and Slovenian national automobile association (AMZS); (2) automatic language detection; (3) trans-border use-case scenarios; (4) compliance with the personal data protection legislation; (5) open interfaces (API); (6) pilot solution of eCall in a private cloud.

COBISS.SI-ID: 17903894As a part of the interdisciplinary 24alife project group (https://www.24alife.com) with leading experts (domains: kinesiology, psychology, medicine, informatics) from academia as well as industry, the members of the research program have been actively involved in the conceptual and architectural design, evaluation and prototype development of the IT solution using the latest technological advances in IT and informatics. The 24alife project is aimed at developing innovative concepts for promoting healthy lifestyle and reducing negative effects of stress. The project also includes state-of-the art IT support for assessment of the current state of the individual, as well as guidance towards specific personal goals. The project results are domain-oriented solutions (24alife Personal, Corporate, Hotels, Fitness etc.)that combine mobile applications for phones and tablets, web portals and cloud-hosted back-end system with separate continental installations. The end user is given goal-oriented programme (e.g. stress-management programme) and monitors progress while practicing different sport and psychical exercises, tracks food intake and medical parameters (heartrate, blood pressure, weight etc.). Research challenges include the use of innovative project management approaches in heterogeneous environments as well as on multidisciplinary research and development projects, efficient presentation and visualization of medical information in mobile and web-based solutions, adaptation of development approaches to the mobile development needs and services. In 2013 the 24alife project received an award from the Slovenian Society Informatika. In the plenary session of the DSI 2013 conference, M Heričko presented the awarded 24alife project.
