The thesis deals with the coupled electromagnetic and thermal analysis of a multipole permanent magnet synchronous machine. The emphasis is given to analytical methods that enable a precise calculation of electromagnetic losses in all relevant thermal regimes and a calculation of heat transfer in the complex geometry of the machine. In the thesis, direct analytical coupling is compared to weak coupling with the finite element method and with measurements of continuous and dynamical operating conditions.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10694740This thesis deals with the diagnostics of open-phase fault and fault-tolerant control with a reduced number of phases in a permanent magnet synchronous machine. All the proposed methods are implemented in a microcontroller (software methods), so they do not require any additional hardware; the power converter topology remains the same as before the open-phase fault occurs. Both the simulations and measurements were made for three control methods at the same conditions. Therefore, the results can be easily compared. A comparison between simulations and experimental measurements reveal very good matching, which confirms all the proposed theory.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10695252Program group members dr. Rastko Fišer and dr. Henrik Lavrič designed and carried out 5 two days application training courses for Danfoss frequency converters industry users. Courses consisted of theoretical as well as hands on parts which gave users an opportunity to comprehend modern principles and design procedures of controlled electric drives. Through training, users learned how to take advantage of the latest technology, in order to maximize energy savings and reliability of operation.
