In this work we present our research, focused on synthesis, characterization and toxicity of selected UV-A filters. Benzophenone type of UV filters react under disinfection conditions with chlorine and form different mono- and dichlorinated products, while dibenzoylmethane derivatives, such as avobenzone, react with chlorine and form mainly methylene bridge chlorinated products. The existing ecotoxicity data for UV filters confirm their estrogenic hormonal activity and multiple endocrine-disrupting activities. Our results of toxicity assessment using different test organisms (Vibri fischeri, microalgae, daphnids) have shown different sensitivity of testing organisms to the parent UV filters in comparison with chlorinated products as well as different toxicity for specific UV filter in comparison to the others.

Aquaponic is a sustainable food production method, which combines aquaculture of fish with hydroponic cultivation of plants (without soil) using a closed water cycle. The project adressed development of new VET (vocational education and training) profession „Aquaponic Urban Farmer“, transfer of aquaponic technology into VET in different countries and adaptation of teaching units and training resources.

The book presents a theoretical description of nanostructures in biological systems. The theory is then used to explain stability of organic nanotubes and other membranous non-lamellar structures. The description derives from metods of statistical physics, elastomechanics and classical theory of electromagnetic field. Also shown are results of experiments with artificial and cellular membranes which were performed along with the development of the theory during last 20 years.

Round table on public professional consultation major infrastructure projects in Slovenia: from failure to sustainable investment organized by NGO-Umanotera wanted to confront government representatives (dr. Miro Cerar Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Igor Šoltes MEP) and professional public with the problem of the failure of large infrastructure projects and draw attention to good practices of small flexible infrastructure solutions, as green infrastructure (multi-purpose flood retention, nutrients recovery from waste water, etc.)
