From a methodological point of view Milka Vrecl interest is focused in developing/improving methods to assess direct protein-protein interaction (PPI) that are based on the bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (BRET). Due to her expertise in the field she was invited by Frontiers in Molecular and Structural Endocrinology and as a guest editor prepared a Research Topic entitled »The use of BRET to study receptor-protein interactions«. She gathered twelve articles of prominent researchers in the field of PPI that were published in 2014 in the form of the e-books. This book assembles for the first time a comprehensive selection of articles (review articles, original research, and opinion articles) on the BRET technology. Selected articles provide an illustrative overview of the principles and applications of the BRET technology that should be of interest for any scientist interested in monitoring PPI in intact cells. The latter is also confirmed by publishers' data, as since beginning, articles have impressive )70,000 views and more than 20,000 downloads (https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/676/the-use-of-bret-to-study-receptor-protein-interactions#impact).
