The 2014 campaign of the European Council revealed that every fourth child living in the EU is a victim of one or another form of child sexual abuse. Nevertheless, in Slovenia the number of reported abuses against children has dropped more than half compared with the year 2010 and before. The most hidden, rarely convicted and not-reflected is the child sexual abuse by the priests in the Catholic Church. The article is a comparative analysis of all media reported cases of child sexual abuse by the priests in Slovenia; it analysis the court proceedings; the reactions of the parents, the public and the convicted. It analysis the reasons for the denial, reflects the experiences of the victims and shows the interrelatedness between the religious concepts of the child and child’s obedience requested by the 1992 Catholic Doctrine Document and child’s sexual abuses. It is the first analysis of this topic in social sciences in Slovenia. Additionally, it presents the principles of good practice in social work and the methods of work with children and the supported family members during preventative work as well as after the abuse.

The increasing and continually changing needs of the older generation are issues which have occupied social work in recent years. The specific nature of social work lies in transversal understanding of older people, their needs, and in the assertion of the user as a partner in the helping process. We need to develop knowledge, methods and skills for social work with older people on various levels: on the theoretical conceptualisation and on micro, mezzo and macro societal level. A greater inclusion of older people in social work decision-making and a more anti-institutional response to their needs may bring about a series of new methods and skills within social work.

Dementia is becoming increasingly phenomenon in old age, wich affects not only the older people, but also relatives and other people in their social network. The effects of dementia are preventing people with dementia to live completely independently and without assistance due to lack of diversified forms of care or its great pretension. Therefore placing people with dementia in homes for older people is very common practice. In order to preserve and protect the indipendence of people with dementia and strive to minimize the subsequent departure of people with dementia in the institution, in this paper we show an overview of exsisting technology as a complement to human care in the community. We present how to research the need of people and based on their living conditions and the degree of dementia, create technology solutions to address the specific obstacles and risks in everyday life of people with dementia. The introduction of information and communication technology in long-term care for people with dementia should be based on an interdisciplinary search for solutions and participation of people with dementia. It is important to take into account the previous experience of people with dementia in the use of technological solutions in everyday life based on the abilities of people with dementia.

The article analyzes the phenomenon of islamophobia in Slovenia, which is characterized by: a) a great number of authoritarian-corporatist models before World War II, which were quite reluctant to Muslims (especially the concept of J. Jeraj); b) social distance between Slovenes and Muslims, which is not prominent, and was higher in socialism than after independence c) public opinion survey data show that the attempt at creating Islamophobia in our country happened from top to bottom, local and national political elites being the main actors (the case of mosques); d) interpretation of the above phenomena through the concept of moral panic.

The concept of the autonomy of migration makes it possible to consider refugees and migrants without resorting to victimization and security discourse. Control is broken down by presenting typical discourses (the distinction between refugees and economic migrants, security discourse, victim discourse, asylum abuse) and countermeasures (incarcerating “illegal” migrants and the externalization of European borders). The main argument is that in practice, immigration control blocks not only the autonomy of migration, but also the system of international protection (asylum). These concepts and practices are reflected in Europe’s externalized borders – “buffer zones”.
