Portrait of EU at a Glance presents an easily understandable overview of 30 selected indicators over 28 EU countries over time, based on Eurostat databases, which is probably the most condensed current summary picture of dynamics and disparities in the EU over many domains over time. It uses innovative time matrix presentation format that enables such condensed summary visual presentation over many countries and over time. The 30 time matrices give rich food for thought. Readers can find numerous comparisons, providing platform for the explanation of the EU development. One of them is that the damage done to countries by the world financial crisis is much greater when other indicators (employment, investment share in GDP), risk of poverty, income distribution, health, etc.) besides the GDP are taken into account.

COBISS.SI-ID: 22486246The primary purpose of this lecture was to contribute to the current debate on the impact of the economic and financial crisis on public-private partnerships (PPPs). The crisis has caused a substantial fall in the PPP market. PPPs have been exposed to both financial and real impacts of the crisis. High interest rates and limited access to finance have been seen as the main factors reflecting the impact of the financial crisis on PPPs. In addition, due to the recession the decreased revenues of PPP projects have reduced their feasibility or impacted on their overall profitability. Measures adopted to help the PPP market in the analysed countries reveal that they mostly involve some form of government support. The invited plennary lecture has been published in a book issued by the reputable issuer Bloomberg in India.
