COBISS.SI-ID: 287278080The principal aim of the project entitled Transformation of Slovenian health care – economic aspects that was developed by researches of the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, and participating partners was to reform the Slovenian health care system so that we can enable the population to achieve good health outcomes in line with the widely accepted basic principles of public health care systems that include solidarity, accessibility, quality, and efficiency. To identify the needed changes, researchers and participating partners started by identifying key weaknesses of the current system that negatively affect mostly those individuals that need effective health care most: excessive waiting times, failure to promptly adopt novel approaches and improve quality according to available best practices, and widespread business failure and losses of even those health care providers exhibiting average efficiency. The results of the project are summarised by 82 key conclusions that show how the authors envision the Slovenian health care system.
