The monograph presents a first available estimate on the position of Slovenian firms in GVCs. Based on the existing concepts and international empirical research on the advantages and disadvantages, and developmental effects of firms’ and countries’ integration into GVCs, this monograph studies the following: (i) what kind of and how big is the position of Slovenian firms in GVCs, (ii) what are the current trends in the field, (iii) what are the forecasts in the field, (iv) what does the involvement in GVCs mean for the success of Slovenian firms, (v) how do firms include and position themselves within the GVCs, (vi) what are the possibilities for involvement in GVCs and which are the factors that influence this involvement, (vii) what are the possible and what are the necessary economic and political measures for accelerating the integration of Slovenian firms into GVCs of TNCs. The method of analysis is threefold: supply chain matrix, detailed analysis of the individual firms’ data, and a survey among firms that have a share in a foreign capital.
