In this contribution, based on data available and previous modelling efforts, our current understanding of relationships and combined effects of these stressors including climate change-induced variations in Idrijca river contaminated with mercury were presented, and how these effects are linked to the ecosystem response in terms of Hg mobility, partitioning and reactivity.

COBISS.SI-ID: 27857959Basic geological, hydrogeochemical and isotopic characteristics of the Žveplenica sulphide dolomite spring in the Idrijca river catchnent were investigated, along with the geochemical and mineralogical characteristics of the sediment deposited at the Mineralogical and geochemical analysis of sediment showed a typical carbonate (mostly dolomite) composition, which was in agreement with the geochemical and isotopic composition of the groundwater of the spring, indicating a deep sourced inorganic form of sulphur such as pyrite. Knowledge about these basic characteristics is important for prediction of fate and transformation mechanisims of mecury, the most important stressor in Idrijca catchment.

COBISS.SI-ID: 28001831In this contribution the response of microbial activity in the hyporheic and benthic sediments to gradient of environmental variables across different land uses was presented for Kamniška Bistrica. We have demonstrated that agriculture the most affected the biofilm activity in river sediments due to increased nutrient input.
