In this book chapter approaches for evaluation of the geochemical dynamics and anthropogenic pollution sources of the entire Sava River Basin are presented. Evaluation was performed based on existing data on water chemistry with the focus on carbon cycle and its fate, nitrate sources in relation to land use patterns, and transport and contamination of suspended particulate matter by selected elements (Cu, Ni, Zn, Cd and Pb) in the main channel of the Sava River. In this way the most important anthropogenic contributors representing environmental stress in the basin were identified. This contribution is a result of our common efforts with the ongoing EU project GLOBAQUA.
