COBISS.SI-ID: 1835012Kristina Sepčić and Matej Butala were members of the Organizing Committee of the international scientific FEBS3+ meeting: Molecules of Life. The meeting was held in Portorož, Slovenia, from 16-19.9.2015. The meeting, which covered different aspects of structure and function of biological macromolecules in health and disease conditions, was organized jointly by the Slovenian Biochemical Society, Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Hungarian Biochemical Society, and Serbian Biochemical Society. The conference was attented by 317 participants froms several European, and some non-European countries (USA, Canada, Israel). Most of the participants came from Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, and Hungary.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4091215The patent application was filed within the scope of phytopharmacy and relates to compounds that can serve as inhibitors of NLPs (“Nep1-like proteins”) and can be used for the control of plant pathogens, e.g. for controlling oomycetes of the genus Phytophthora causing potato or tomato blight. More specifically, the invention relates to inhibitors of NLP proteins that can be derived from two lead compounds that were selected and showed the inhibitory effect on necrosis upon leaf infiltration assay and growth of Phytophthora. These compounds were 2-[(4-methoxyphenyl)amino]benzoic acid and (2S,4R)-2-(6-methyl-4-oxochromen-3-yl)-1,3-thiazolidin-3-ium-4-carboxylate.
