The Section of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the Slovenian Pharmaceutical Society and the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana have organized the 2nd Meeting of Slovenian Medicinal Chemists on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. It is a gathering intended primarily for socializing and getting our pharmaceutical and chemical society, with the desire to strengthen the already excellent cooperation between the pharmaceutical and chemical stakeholders in the Slovenian area. The meeting took place as a mini symposium with 8 lectures in the classroom P1 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana. The lectures were the next renowned researchers: Prof. Dr. Andrear Reisner (Graz, Austria); Doc. dr. Branimir Bertoša (Zagreb, Croatia); Doc. dr. Nace Zidar (FFA); Doc. dr. Isidor Sosič (FFA); doc. dr. Zoran Arsov (IJS); Doc. dr. Janez Konc (KI); Dr. Jakob Kljun (FKKT); Dr. Martin Gazvoda (FKKT).

In cooperation with pharmaceutical industry we have developed synthetic procedures for preparation of chiral compounds which are useful for preparation of antidiabetics, preferably sitagliptine. Individual synthetic steps have been optimized using ecologically friendly reagents and sitagliptine synthesis has been realized using new intermediates and synthetic procedures.
