Vasja Vehovar and his team have been developing an open-source web survey tool for online data collection OneClickSurvey (1KA). The platform serves as a tool for conducting own research experiments and is also freely available to external users. It has more than 44,000 registered users, and around 2 million filled out questionnaires are collected annually. It also provides specialised modules for general data entry, telephone and face-to-face surveys. The tool includes pilot technical solutions for adapted presentation of questionnaires on mobile devices and supports collection of a wide range of paradata that can be used to monitor the quality of the question answering process at the level of individual respondents. Since January 2017, the mobile web survey app 1KA is available in Google Play and 1KA registered users can download it to their android mobile devices.

COBISS.SI-ID: 30211677The WebSM.org website was established in 1998 by Vasja Vehovar and Katja Lozar Manfreda. It was further developed in a project funded by the 5th EU Framework Programme (2003–2005). It is internationally recognized as the main source of information on methodology of web surveys and other survey approaches based on modern information-communication technologies. It offers a specialized bibliographic database of publications in this field, a list of software solutions and services for implementing surveys, a list of scientific events and other information relevant to survey methodologists and users. The website is visited by users from all over the world. The leader of the research team continuously coordinates development of the WebSM portal and inclusion of new relevant information. The key development activities on the portal in the last five years include development of new criteria for publication coding, research on networks of authors in the field as well as a pilot application of text mining algorithms for automated classification of included papers. In 2009, Vasja Vehovar and Katja Lozar Manfreda received the Warren J. Mitofsky Innovators Award by the American Association for Public Opinion Research for establishing the WebSM portal and for their outstanding contribution to the field.

Safer Internet Centre is involved in two main activities: 1) Safe.si (www.safe.si, Awareness Centre, which raises the awareness on how to stay safe online) and 2) Hotline Spletno oko (www.spletno-oko.si, A hotline, which enables Internet users to anonymously report hate speech and images of child sexual abuse found on the Internet). Within these activities we annually organise publicly recognised events. 1.) Every year on the Safer Internet Day Slovenia’s National Awareness Centre Safe.si organizes educational activities for teachers, parents, pupils and teenagers. In 2018 we have organized a conference for school workers entitled "What is new in the field of (safe) use of technology, harmful web content and risk behaviours". The conference was held on 6th February 2018 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia. The aim of the conference was to provide information about innovations in safe use of modern technologies in schools, harmful online content, and risky behaviour online. A range of topics were covered by presentations, including the influence of media on children's health from the perspective of risky behaviour. 2) Hotline Spletno oko annually organises a conference on hate speech that is moderated by dr. Vasja Vehovar. In 2017, the conference was addressed “Hate speech globally and locally” and the main theme was hate speech on online social networks and in the media. The consultation followed the announcement of the European Commission on the results of monitoring the code of conduct for the prevention of online illegal hate speech. The main guest of the event was Ronald Eissens from the international INACH network, which unites organizations that deal with the problem of discrimination on the Internet. He presented broader trends that they perceive in the area of spreading hate speech at the European level. Andrej Motl, coordinator of Spletno oko, presented the results of the second part of the monitoring for Slovenia. The conference was concluded by a lecture of Lenart J. Kučić, a journalist and columnist of the “Sobotna priloga” (newspaper Delo), who presented his view on the role and challenges of the media in preventing hate speech.
