In this study a theoretically and empirically supported model is introduced which consists of three stages of user involvement in the development of smart solutions for active and healthy ageing. The model draws upon a methodological shift towards inclusive and user-centered research design, involving end-users of information and communication technology-based smart solutions in all stages of research and development. We present in detail a case study in which this model is applied on older adults and their formal and informal caregivers as end-users of smart technologies. The discussed practical examples indicate that this model is robust and adaptable as well as that it can be tailored to specific research aims, including, for instance, a combination of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods. Various model’s elements have been used within three research projects, co-founded by Telekom Slovenije, Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS) and Simobil, and ARRS and Smart Com.
B.03 Paper at an international scientific conference
COBISS.SI-ID: 34384733Centre for Social Informatics annually organizes the Web Survey Day (WSD) that is intended to professional public and online surveys’ users. In September 2016 was carried out the fifth WSD, that was visited by around 300 visitors from public sector, companies, non-profit organisations, students and other. At first were carried out the seminars titled Systematic overview of key functionalities for non-users of 1KA and beginners and New and advanced functionalities for users of 1KA and visitors of past events. This was followed by main methodological lecture titled Structuring of methodological recommendations for creation of web surveys: What is really necessary and is also proven (but is massively violated?)˝ Vasja Vehovar, PhD presented the importance of methodological recommendations for web survey creation. Four parallel sets of thematic interactive seminars followed. Participants were only able to visit one of them. Advanced and new functionalities of 1KA were presented in detail.

Registered users of 1KA web survey tool (OneClickSurvey, http://english.1ka.si), that was developed by Centre for Social Informatics, can now download mobile application 1KA to Android mobile devices. Key functionalities of 1KA application: 1. Overview of statuses and results of web surveys 1KA user can check response statuses, access the survey preview, share the survey using social networks and check results of the survey through created public links. 2. Questionnaire creation and design Users can create and design simple questionnaire using three question types: Categories - single answer, Categories - multiple answers and Data input - Text input. Questionnaire can be activated and shared through social networks. Collected data can be displayed in the results tab in the form of interactive graphs. Other status overview functionalities are also available. 3. Voting creation and implementation Voting is a questionnaire with only one question that can be used to collect respondent's opinion for or against a certain proposition, decision or similar. Pre-set question enables conduction of voting and sharing it with respondents with only one click. Results are presented as interactive graphs and in real time. Question can be transformed and edited in many ways.
