The aim of the thesis was to provide a systematic representation of the scope and the distribution of Celtic (i.e. Gaulish) place names in Slovene toponymy. The significant fundamental research brings new theoretical and empirical insights from the field of paleolinguistics, etymological onomastics, Old Celtic toponymy and provides a growing understanding of the stratigraphy of pre-Slavic toponymy in Slovene. The thesis has been submitted for consideration for the 2015 Thesis Awards of the Indogermanische Gesellschaft and has been chosen as the winner of the award for best PhD thesis in the field of Indo-European Linguistics. The work is of utmost importance in promoting Slovenian linguistics and Slovenian science in the world.

The goal of the monograph is to give an overview, as complete as possible, of the topic of web texts, although its main part is limited to blog and Wikipedia texts, where, as it turns out, there is a need for placing the topic into a broader context of electronic texts. The first chapter treats the circumstances of the formation of the Web and its definition in relation to the Internet and other electronic media. In the second chapter, corpus and dictionary are presented in relation to the Web, especially in terms of web corpora, the current role of web search engines is discussed, as well as the use of the Web in lexicography. The third and the largest part of the monograph includes a detailed analysis of Slovenian language and texts, especially of the selected material obtained from blogs and Wikipedia.

The article presents a genealogical and sociolinguistic classification of Slavic idioms, drawing on the example of Resian. Resian is an autochthonous idiom, spoken in the Resia Valley (Ital. Val Resia), which belongs to the Municipality of Resia (Ital. Comune di Resia) within the Province of Udine (Ital. Provincia di Udine) in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, an autonomous Italian region. The genealogical linguistics studies the genetic relationship between idioms and on the basis of the nature of their mutual relationship establishes their genealogical classification. In this respect, Resian must be viewed as a dialect of Slovene. Sociolinguistics, on the other hand, tends to view languages as systems of communication and on the basis of different spheres of usage assigns their sociolinguistic classification. From the latter viewpoint, Resian can be defined as a literary/standard microlanguage within Slovene, which due to the absence of the Slovene standard language is put into the role of the local literary language with a rather limited scope of functional varieties.

The monograph illustrates the festive year of Slovenes in the Canale Valley from the perspective of current ritualistic practices (still in use today). The identifying elements of the Slovenian linguistic community are recognizable in the implementation of various (popular) religious practices by the local population. The author presents the rituals (with selected prayer formulas), described as an integral part of their life by Slovenian-speaking informants – all of whom are indigenous, native people of the Canale Valley – that was described, from the point of view of experts in the fields (e.g. Kuret 1989) as typical of the Slovenian community in general.
