Researcher Dr. Mateja Ferk was awarded The ZRC SAZU Silver Emblem in 2016 for successful scientific work and outstanding doctorate entitled Quaternary flooding in the basin of karstic Ljubljanica. The award ceremony took place on 21. 4. 2016 in the framework of the 22th event Generations of science. The ZRC SAZU annually awards The Silver Emblem to aspiring young researchers. Our Program team members have so far been awarded five times. The Golden Emblem ZRC SAZU wasreceived by Drago Perko and Milan Orožen Adamič while Drago Kladnik and Matija Zorn received the silver Emblem.

We also discussed the global challenges and their role in regional development, with the aim to contribute to the debate, which will be supported on a professional basis to formulate mutually supportive and personalized development measures.

C.05 Editorial board of a national magazine
COBISS.SI-ID: 124775936The International Geographical Union established a Study Group on Land Use and Land Cover Change (IGU-LUCC) in November 1996. The major aim of the Study Group is the enhancement of research on land use/cover change. The birth of the new Study Group was the result of the growing awareness among the world geographical community of the urgent need to include land use/cover change in global environmental research. In 2002 the IGU-LUCC became the 'IGU Commission on Land Use and Land Cover Change'. The objectives of the Comission are to promote the study of land-use change throughout the world as a geographical research focus, to stimulate the production and the use of land-use databases and maps of both the present and the past, to co-ordinate the comparative study of land-use changes and their driving forces in different regions, and to to contribute to the LUCC Program. Dr. Matej Gabrovec is the Chair of Land Use and Cover Change Commission.
D.03 Membership in foreign/international boards/committees
The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services is intergovernmental body which has been preparing the report on the state of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Regional report for Europe and Central Asia includes around 100 excellent researchers from Europe and Central Asia. IPBES was established in 2012 in Panama by over 100 governments as a mechanism to provide scientific information in response to requests from policy makers. Current membership includes 126 governments among which Slovenia is not present. For this reason the nomination of Mimi Urbanc is a real achievement.
