In September 2018 we organised in Ljubljana the 26th International Conference on Bear Research and Management, which is considered the most prestigious scientific meeting of bear researchers in the world. The conference was organised under the auspices of LifeDinAlpBear, two groups from the Biotechnical Faculty (BFG and BFB) and the Slovenia Forest Service. The conference featured 88 lectures and 90 posters in 7 sections, of which 3 were facilitated by the members of this project covering the main research topics (genetics, artificial feeding, human-bear conflict). We gave 5 lectures that were the result of this project and moderated one of the afternoon workshops. The conference lasted 6 days, whereby we used some of the time to host a meeting of the entire project group with foreign external collaborators. Visitors assessed the conference as one of the best organised and substantively the most interesting conferences to date.
