Research findings, important for the development of sport in Slovenia, have focussed on several areas of elite sport, physical education, recreational sport and the trends for strategic decisions of the development of sport in Slovenia. In the area of physical education, the results are important findings of developmental characteristics of children and youth from both physical and motor aspects of development and their correlation with various elements of cognitive and conative dimensions of children and youth. Basic models for the external examination at the end of nine years of primary education have been established. Analysis of morphological characteristics and motor abilities of Slovene children and youth provides annual foundations for the programmes of in- and out of school physical education; analysis of the regions enables the strategy of further development of sports programmes and building of suitable infrastructure in the individual parts of Slovenia. Analysis of various economic aspects of sport provides assistance with decision making about the investments into sports infrastructure, financial support on the national and local level, as well as with programmes of advertising and marketing effectiveness of the supply of various sports contents. Analysis of participation in recreational sport facilitates further planning of strategies for supply of recreational sport, especially for specific target groups (people with addictions, older people, families) and areas (tourist destinations, micro supply of the clubs). On the basis of the research work various strategies for the development of sport in Slovenia have been formed, especially in the areas of organisation and financing. System, which has been developed, allows for more rational work in Slovene sport and ensures better insight, trend and equality in the use of public funds in sport. Undoubtedly, relative success of Slovene sport, compared with the EU, has been achieved as a result of research findings, as the members of study group are regular associates of the European Council and UNICEF, who help with the preparation of strategies in the areas of physical education, building of sports infrastructure, programme directives and financial and law aspects in various southeast European countries.
