The results of the research have a broad spectrum of possible application. The analyses contribute to a systematic scientific reflection, observation and regulation of the social development in specific public policy domains. For instance, with the classification of NGOs and their activities, as well as with identification of their possible sources, we have contributed towards better transparency and regulation of the domain. With development and transfer of thus acquired scientific knowledge into a number of applied projects and expertise, this knowledge was made accessible to policy makers and civil society. It served as guidelines in a number of instances such as policy instruments in relation to elderly, to NGOs, housing, as well as in preparation of policy strategies and action plans (such as Strategy of social development of Slovenia, National programme of Social Protection, Programme to combat poverty and social exclusion, National housing programme) Our analyses provided Slovenian public policy makers in the field of quality of life with an information about the policy outcomes in two frameworks of comparison: within EU and within other Central and East European countries. The knowledge and expertise acquired in the programme has also enabled Slovenian experts in the field of social protection and housing to join the working bodies of the Council of Europe.
