The research work of the team has confirmed a nonexistence of the universal recipes in the fields of social investigations. Therefore, local approach has been necessary for the analysis of the economic policy and economic statistics in Slovenia. The process of economic and social transition in the countra additionally reinforced the main characteristics of the processes. Economic policy research has shown the persistence of moderate income distribution in slovenian society. Slovenia has avoided fast and too big differences in income distribution, which characterise some societies. Researchers have monitored inflation in Slovenia and investigated new measurement problems in this field. Important research results are strategies and projections of the economic development in Slovenia from the viewpoint of the basic macroeconomic indicators. The team has produced principles and instruments of the spatial and regional development. The development of the statistical system in Slovenia has been characterised by the application of the international statistical standards. The researchers have contributed to the development of the structural and business statistics (meta data bases). Manufacturing production indeces have been also analysed. In the field of pedagogy, basic principles of distance learning of economic statistics have been outlined. Interactive electronic textbook of economic statistics has been produced and evaluation procedure developed. Know - how has been transfered to some transitional countries (Bulgaria and Macedonia). The team has produced considerable number of textbooks and other study materials. More textbooks have been revised and printed in more impressiones. Population projections of Slovenia 2001 - 2036 has been produced in two calculations. The first has taken into account a natural growth of the population, while has additionally included migration movements. The projections have been used for the analysis of the population ageing and its economic and social consequences. The research has shown unsustainable population development in Slovenia. Migration research has analysed Balkan migration stream SE - NW, migration situation in CEE countries and the situation in small region of Prekmurje. As early as in the 1999 deep demographic crisis was identified in Slovenia. The research had also forcasted the deterioration of the Slovenian demographic situation. Later demographic development in the country has confirmed the forcast. Therefore, researchers have persistently requested the adoption and implementation of the explicit population policy in Slovenia.
