Results of the programme form a basis for knowledge of biodiversity of Slovenia and are an necessary foundation for knowledge of the nature of Slovenia. As such they are integrated into the school system, as well as into many activities carried out in the environment. The results are directly applicable to the impact assessments on the environment for various interventions in the environment, physical planning, forestry or various technical measures of civil service. It should be pointed out that the results of our investigations are promptly transformed to application by the means of applied works, expertise and opinions for the Ministry of the Environment, Physical Planning and Energy, the Ministry of the Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Nutrition, etc. Flora, fauna and vegetation are basic elements of our natural heritage and an element of national identity. This knowledge is necessary for the development of our own science and ideas, as well as for the integration of Slovenia into the common European research area.
