By participations in this research, young scientists of physics, engineering and materials are educated for later research in the research institutions, industry or teaching work at Slovenian universities. The research programme qualified us for the work for Nuclear Power Plant Krsko and Agency for Radioactive Waste. A need for high quality neutron dosimetry in Slovenia durring the operation of Nuclear Power Plant Krško is expected. The dosimetry requirement are forseen for the safe operation of depository of radioactive materials. Neutron dosimeter developed in the frame of the program, is applicable also in the case of accidents, war or teroristic actions. Studies, related to transport phenomena of water in building materials, may find application for the developement of concretes with special properties. Understanding of the phenomena in plasma can contribute to the improvement of different technological proceses, based on plasma utilization: deposition of different materials, etching, improvement of qality of surface of materials, development of new materials and technologies, etc. The main results of the program important for Slovenia are: 1. New methods for tracing of the path of ions in matter, which may find wide application for future developement of the techniques of heavy ions for cancer treatement. 2. New method for the determination of density and ion range in histological samples, which may find application for the research in boron neutron capture therapy. 3. New detector for fast neutrons with high sensitivity and low detection limit, which is suitable for maping of neutron field arround nuclear facilities. 4. New technique of neutron radiography with advanced image detection systems (CCD camera, imaging plate), which increase the applicability of neutrons for study of liquid transport in porous building materials. 5. New technique for recovery of radiation damage (amorphous zone) in semiconductors by use of low energy electrons, which is suitable for the production of electronics components with ion implantation.
