Presently, our main area of research in the field of biostatistics are regression models in survival analysis. As can be seen from the bibliography, we are (or were) working on the following subjects: -Explained variation for the proportional hazards model; -Buckley and James linear regression model for censored data; -Frailties in proportional hazards model. Our latest interest is in relative survival; our paper (authors Stare, Henderson & Pohar) was recently accepted for publication in the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society - Series C (Applied Statistics). We are also working on goodness of fit in relative survival regression models. In the period 1999-2003 we have published 5 papers in international statistical journals included in SCI, and of course many more in other, international or domestic journals. There are of course many papers (over 20) in medical journals (also in SCI) that are results of our collaboration with researchers in medicine. The field of scientometrics (or bibliometrics) is young, and after gathering a lot of experience in practical applications, we have recently started with research in this area, too. The first result is a paper by Hudomalj and Vidmar in the journal Scientometrics. Information retrieval has been the area of our practical work for more than 20 years, but for the last 5 years we have devoted much time and effort to research in this field. This is mainly reflected in the work of Dimitar Hristovski, who now publishes in the area extensively. In the year 2003 he spent 9 months as post doctoral student at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, continuing his work and establishing strong and fruitful international connections.
