1. International scientific conference Landscape planning in the era of globalisation - Globalscape brought together most eminent European researchers from the field of landscape planning as well as some other academics. It was a very successful scientific meeting that enabled many fruitful exchanges of research findings and ideas connected to the globalisation and its impact on landscapes, particularly within Europe. The study of the impacts that new economy is bringing upon landscapes is one of those scientific fields that the research group is involved in for longer period. Two (2) articles were published in the second half of the year 2003, too. (I. Marušič). 2. The research of human (designed) environment is another field of our research, particularly perception of (ornamental) plants, perception and understanding of nature, perception of complex landscape features and designed forms, and last but not least, study of the perception of cultural landscapes. The research in this field goes on for years (N. Kravanja, T. Simonič, D. Gazvoda, A.Kučan). Three articles (3) were published in the last period - in the second half of the year 2003. 3. The research on Slovenian landscapes are connected to different activities countries that have signed the European Landscape Convention have to carry out. The subjects of the research are: landscape typology, landscape change, the symbolic features within the landscapes (toponims), mental maps. The research results do have an international echo because of the actuality of this field of research. It is, namely, connected to European Landscape Convention (I. Marušič, A. Kučan). 4. The theoretical bases of landscape planning and design and methodology are subjects of the research within the group for long. In the last years the stress was given to the landscape modelling, particularly modelling of landscape vulnerability. The possibilities to make public participation more efficient were researched, too.
