New methods of low frequeny electron paramagnetic resonance have been developed. They allow us to evaluate the action of topically applied of vaso- dilatators, drugs , and cosmetic preparations in vivo. Distribution of oxygen concentration in tissues can be measured and herewith the effect of radiation therapy can be substantially improved. Very effective methods have been introduced to study the lateral membrane domains as well as other membrane heterogeneities. Herewith the role of the membranes in biological processes with respect to the material transport as well as the action of membrane located enzyme can be assessed. The applied methods are non-destructive therefore there are ample possibilities to explore the basic principles of membrane action and their involvement in the physiological processes. Spin probes are being synthesized new design for the spin probe and spin traps with specific properties is performed. With spin label tailoring spatial resolutions down to some tenths of nanometer can be detected. As first we confirmed experimentally the existence of lateral domains in both leaflets of plasma membranes. The diffusion rate of molecules across the cement -dentine barrier in human teeth has been measured using the 1DEPR and kinetic imaging methods. A new technique FT-ESEEM, Fourier transformed electron spin echo envelope modulation was used when pulsed EPR was used to measure the penetration of water molecules into the hydrophobic barrier in model membranes of liposomes. B Dynamical magnetic resonance imaging was used to study the penetration of water into porous material. Testing of protective coating for tooth's cement was performed. A theory of limited diffusion was developed and experimentally tested. A new method of ac electrical currents imaging by NMR was developed. By dc electrical currents, dissolution of pills was evaluated. Electrical currents induced by an artificially provoked epileptic attack in rat brains were imaged. A spatially resolved spectroscopy method CARVE was improved and theoretically analyzed for the phantom as well as biological sample. It was proved that the MR images can be used to foretell the solubility of thrombolytic plack. Controlled elution of the drug from pills. The effect of polymer coating of pills for controlled drug release was imaged with respect to the rate of polymer formation of the gel phase New macromolecular contrast agents for MR imaging have been used to improve the evaluation of the tumor vascularization. We found a correlation between organization of molecules forming the glycocalics and the ordering of the lipid molecules in the membranes. The action of free radicals on the membrane was studied by theradical generating couple hypoxanthine/ xanthine oxidase. The yeast Pichia pastoris was studied with respect to the vesicular excretion of the non-homologous protein, which influences the domain structure of the plasma-membrane.
