After graduating at the University of Ljubljana (Theology, Greek Language and Literature, Sociology of Culture), he pursued post-graduate studies in philosophy at the Catholic Institute in Paris, where he received his Master’s Degree with a thesis on »L’itinéraire de la liberté dans la pensée de Plotin« (G. Madec) and his Ph.D. with a thesis on »Le statut existential du platonisme« (J. Greisch). He further graduated in Biblical Hebrew. He is a professor of philosophy at the Faculty of Theology (University of Ljubljana). From 2006 to 2010 he was Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, from 2013 to 2016 head of the Department of Philosophy, from 2005 to 2009 head of the Institute of Philosophy and Social Ethics, and from 2017 head of the Institute of Bioethics. In 2009 he was appointed editor of the scientific publication Theological Quarterly, and in 2015 head of the research programme Ethical-religious grounds and perspectives of the society and the religious studies in context of education and violence (P6-0269 (A)). Since 2008 to 2015 he was the director of the Catholic Institute, which is carrying out the project of a catholic university in the Republic of Slovenia. In 2016 he has been appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Theology.
