Dr Liljana Jankovič Grobelšek graduated and received her doctorate at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana. During her thirteen years of work at Acer Novo mesto, she managed many urban planning and planning projects, including the preparation of municipal spatial plans (OPN) and the professional basis for them for the municipality of Novo mesto and others. She participated in the preparation of detailed state spatial plans and comparative studies for state roads bypasses. From 2008 to 2012, she led the Section of Spatial Planning Professionals in the Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia. From 2014 to 2018 she was the president of the Town and spatial planning association of Slovenia, where since 2018, she has been active as a member of the Executive Board. She was the Head of the Planning Office in the Department of Urban Planning, City of Ljubljana from 2013 to 2024, where she co-led the preparation of three municipal spatial plan amendments and the professional basis for them, including amendment to the strategic spatial plan. As co-editor, she led the preparation the ‘Ljubljana – planning with vision’ book on the spatial planning within the period 2006-2021. She gave lectures at several Slovenian and international conferences. As part of the preparation of the spatial development vision for Ljubljana 2045, she managed the organisation of the 'Vision Ljubljana 2045 International conference and workshop', and actively participated in the workshop and in the conclusions of both the conference and workshop. Since June 2024, she has been working at the Urban Institute of the Republic of Slovenia as a researcher, where she participates in research tasks and professional bases for spatial planning at the level of the Republic of Slovenia, regions and at the local level, as well as in international spatial planning projects.
