Retired Associate Professor Dr. Matjaž Debevc (since 2023) is a researcher, lecturer, consultant, and expert evaluator for European programs in Brussels. He obtained his doctorate in 1995 at the University of Maribor in the field of computer science. His research and educational areas include human-computer interaction, e-learning, visual communication, audio and video technology, and recently the field of digital accessibility for persons with disabilities. He has actively participated in more than 70 projects, predominantly European. For two years, he also served as a visiting researcher in Switzerland, at ETH Zürich and in the company Phonak, Stäfa. He has presented his research achievements in more than 100 scientific, professional, and popular journals and at over 300 scientific conferences, including as an invited speaker. He is the recipient of awards for the best paper at three international scientific conferences and recipient of recognitions for innovations in the Slovenian and European environment. Currently, he serves as a national expert for the European Resource Center for Accessibility - AccessibleEU, as a delegate of the G3ict group for cooperation with ITU, as a coordinator of the expert group for accessibility for the World Federation of the Deaf, as a member of the expert group for ETSI standards, as a member of the technical committee of the Slovenian SIST/TC, and as a member of various working groups in the field of accessibility at the University of Maribor and other institutions in Slovenia.
