Mitja Kos is Head of the Department of Social Pharmacy and a professor of social pharmacy at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Pharmacy, Slovenia.
The focus of his scientific and professional activities are health technology assessment, comparative effectiveness and optimization of medicine use.
He is the past Chairman and a board member of Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe, which aims to research and develop pharmacist’s contributions to the care of individuals in order to optimize medicines use and improve health outcomes. With a similar function he is also involved in the work of the expert group within Slovene Chamber of pharmacy that assures the development, implementation and quality of medication review services in clinical practice.
He has served as a member of the Health Council at the Ministry of Health of the Republic Slovenia and as a member of two expert commissions at the Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices of the Republic Slovenia: one focusing on the evaluation of clinical trials and the other on medicine prices.
For his past work, he has received Minařik recognition award from the Slovenian Pharmaceutical Society.
