Biography
Marko Anderluh is a full professor at the University of Ljubljana where he lectures at undergraduate, master, and doctoral studies courses related to Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacology. He is intensively involved in the work of the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry, and is the president of the Slovenian Pharmaceutical Society, the largest professional Pharmacist’s society representing the interests of pharmacists in Slovenia. He has authored 111 papers in journals indexed by SCI, has a h-index of 26 (Scopus), and 2285 citations (Scopus). He is recipient of many grants and awards, most important being Zois Award for important discovery and sustainable development in the field of antibacterial agents in the Republic of Slovenia in 2021. He studied pharmacy at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Pharmacy, and finished his PhD at the same university in the group of Prof. Marija Sollner Dolenc. During his PhD he also worked at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany in the group of Prof. Athanassios Giannis on in vitro assay for integrin receptor modulators. After finishing his PhD, he joined the group of Prof. Anna Bernardi at the University of Milan, Italy as a post-doc researcher. His post-doc work introduced him to the field of glycochemistry and glycodrugs, to which he devotes the majority of his research focus after returning to the University of Ljubljana. Namely, he was a management committee member of two COST actions (Innogly and GLYCOnanoPROBES) involving glycochemistry, he coordinated the H2020 MSCA-ITN-EJD project PhD4GlycoDrug and is currently involved in HEU MSCA-DN projects LLIMIT (coordinator) and GlyCanDrug (member).
